Drawing With Thread: From Tradition to Contemporary Art. Explore embroidery as a form of personal expression beyond kits and traditional patterns. In this afternoon workshop, you’ll learn a few essential surface-embroidery stitches and experiment with stitch as mark-making. Looking briefly at examples from historical and contemporary textiles for inspiration, you’ll dive into hands-on stitching with traditional and modern materials. Through guided exercises, you’ll experiment with mark-making, pattern, and composition to create your own small stitched artwork. You might surprise yourself when you start stitching freely! No embroidery or drawing experience is needed.
